Pre-Licensing
Register for the Law Exam Prep course (see course dates below). This course consists of the 36 classroom hours and is a review of the Kentucky law portion of the pre-licensing program. Click here to register
There will be 60 credit hours completed online and 36 credit hours completed in a classroom setting. Below, please find a list of course dates in your area. Both the 60 credit online hours and the 36 classroom hours equal a total of the required 96 course hours.
Note: Online hours do NOT have to be completed prior to attending the classroom hours.

Written by Joyce Bea Sterling, a Kentucky real estate instructor since 1986, offers steps to help you pass the Kentucky Real Estate Law section of the Real Estate Exam. This pdf version is 119 pages and includes a sample workbook, questions/answers and rationales.

Licensing Information and Qualifications
Before you agree to take this course, keep in mind to obtain a real estate license in Kentucky, you must:
- Be 18 years of age
- Have attained a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency. Candidates who completed at least 28 credit hours from a post secondary institution may submit a copy of the transcript in lieu the high school or G.E.D. diploma.
- Have completed six semester credit hours in real estate courses from an accredited college or university OR 96 classroom hours in real estate courses from a Kentucky approved Proprietary School (this program counts as that qualification). Courses must be completed prior to taking the real estate examination.
- All persons who will be taking the sales examination must submit to a criminal background check. Go to www.krec.ky.gov and see document #408 for a complete explanation of this requirement. DO THIS NOW! It can take up to 3 months to complete this process

Purchasing of Course
Students must purchase the full package course which includes online and classroom learning. The Kentucky Association of REALTORS® will be notified once you have purchased the course and a packet of information will be mailed to you prior to the course start date.
Once you've registered you may begin the online portion at that time. The online portion does not have to be completed before the classroom portion.
Payment: The cost of the course is $550.00. The course must be paid for at the time of purchase with a credit card – no checks or payment plans are available.
Time Frame
You have one (1) year to complete the online hours, which will consist of the National Real Estate Principles. The classroom hours will consist of the Kentucky Real Estate Law.
Please check our website periodically to see when the next classroom portion is being offered. All 96 hours have to be completed and passed with a 75% before a completion certificate is issued.
Confirmation Packet
A confirmation email will be sent 5 days before the classroom course is held. Included in this email is instructor contact information, a how-to on signing up for the exam, classroom course schedule, a Student Affidavit to ensure your correct name is on your certificate of completion, step-by-step directions on what you need to do to become a licensed real estate salesperson in Kentucky. The Modern Practices of Real Estate book is available the first day of class. If you would like a copy mailed to you prior to, please email bbaxter@kar.com.
Course Information
To complete the salesperson course, you must complete:
- 60 hours online which includes (every unit, exercises and unit exam).
- 36 hours in the classroom (please contact our office to confirm the dates and times you will be attending).
- Comprehensive Final Examination (online material and classroom material) with 75% correct.
Instructor
Your instructor is your resource for questions regarding course content. You will be notified by email 5 days before the class of your instructor’s name and contact information. Should you wish to contact the instructor prior to receiving this information, please contact KAR at 800-264-2185.

You can purchase self-study books and software by going to the Real Estate Bookstore.
Course Completion
Upon completion and passing of the online hours and classroom hours, the Kentucky Association of REALTORS® will be notified and your certificate of completion will be issued by mail within three business days of course completion. You must attach the certificate of completion to your license application – DO NOT LOSE YOUR CERTIFICATE.
Testing Information
Once you complete the pre-licensing program successfully, you will need to schedule and sit for your licensing exam. The exam is offered through PSI. Course Review
You may review any portion of the course you have completed within your 1 year timeframe – even after you have received your certificate of completion. The course will be available to you throughout your 1 year time-frame.
Refunds/Cancellation Policy
Once you register for a course, you can begin immediately. The courses may be entered and exited at your convenience. If a student drops out of the course within 30 days, they will receive a refund of $515 and will have to pay the full amount to re-register for the full course. Beyond 30 days, no refund is available (please keep in mind you will have 12 months to complete the course).
Technical Support
RECampus, the company that hosts the online course, provides technical support for students who have questions or problems with their web browser or the technical side of the course. Technical support hours are: Monday-Friday, 8AM to 9PM and Saturday-Sunday, 8AM to 7PM Central Time. If you experience ANY technical difficulties, your first call should be to the RECampus technical support hotline at: 888-213-5124. Technical support is also available to discuss the requirements necessary to run the online course on your computer.
