License Plate

Kentucky REALTORS® will soon have the opportunity to purchase a license plate made specifically for their industry.

Show your Kentucky REALTOR® pride and have a captive audience with a Kentucky Association of REALTORS® license plate. License plates can be purchased for all your vehicles as long as they are registered in Kentucky.

Cost of plate
At present time, we are collecting $25 from enough applicants to have the license plates produced. Once we reach our minimum number of applicants, the plates will begin production and everyone who applied will then receive a postcard from the DMV to say the plates are available. At that point, the $25 application fee will be used toward the total registration cost of the personalized plate. A breakdown of the total cost is as follows:

- Regular (initial) registration: $44 (the $25 application fee would be applied, making this $19 
  when you pick up your plate)
- Renewal registration: $31
- Personalized plate: add $25 to the above amounts

Funding a cause
A portion of the funds (registration includes a $10 voluntary donation) will be used to provide disaster relief assistance throughout Kentucky when the need arises. KAR maintains a Disaster Relief line item in the budget to assist when needed. Additional funds may be used to create and offer career development classes for Kentucky real estate professionals and to support a legal hotline if one is created by KAR.

Personalized plate
To personalize a plate, an additional $25 will be added at the time of registration through the DMV. Personalized plates will accommodate up to 5 characters (non-personalized plates will include 4 numbers and 2 stacked letters). How to apply
To apply, download and complete the form and submit, along with payment of $25, to KAR, c/o KY license plate, 161 Prosperous Place, Lexington, KY 40509.  If you are purchasing more than one plate, you will need to complete a separate application for each vehicle.
